Frequently Asked Questions : Getting Involved

How are donations distributed and used?

Donations to Habitat for Humanity Great Britain are used as designated by the donor. Gifts we receive which are designated to a specific affiliate or building project are forwarded to that affiliate or project. Undesignated gifts are used where most needed and for administrative expenses.

What do volunteers do?

Volunteers are vital to our work. Their labour helps us to keep house costs down so that low income families can afford to buy their HFH house. Volunteers work on building houses or preparing meals for builders. They help with administrative, fundraising and organisational activities. Some work locally in their own neighbourhood, others go abroad for one to three weeks as part of our Global Village programme.
