In Senegal, people flock to the cities searching for a better life. Many are left unemployed or make a living from odd jobs or as petty vendors rather than regular work. The city of Dakar alone has seven slums.

Habitat for Humanity programme

Since 2001, Habitat for Humanity Senegal has been establishing and developing partnerships with local cooperatives and associations in the urban areas. The programme has served 254 families to date in Zac Mbao, Keur Massar, Plan Jaxaay, Rufisque and Bargny.
