Context at a glance

In Senegal, people flock to the cities searching for a better life. Many are left unemployed or make a living from odd jobs or as petty vendors rather than regular work. The city of Dakar alone has seven slums.

Habitat for Humanity programme

Since 2001, Habitat for Humanity Senegal has been establishing and developing partnerships with local cooperatives and associations in the urban areas. To date, there are two construction sites: ZAC M’Bao and Keur Massar. Since January 2004, 24 houses have been completed.
