Habitat for Humanity builds in 22 countries in Africa and the Middle East and we have already helped over 35,000 families. In this section, we give you a flavour of each of the countries where we are working in Africa and the Middle East, giving people a hand up out of poverty housing.

Fact: Africa is the birthplace of Habitat for Humanity. It all started with the construction of the first Habitat house in October 1974, when the founder Millard Fuller, and his wife Linda, began a low-cost housing project in the city of Mbandaka, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire).
