Micronesia

Context at a glance

Micronesia is a series of isolated islands that stretch several hundred kilometres across the Pacific, north of the equator and northeast of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. One third of the 100,000 inhabitants live on Pohnpei, one of the wettest places in the world – it rains almost every day!

Habitat for Humanity programme

A group of volunteers organise Habitat's programme in Pohnpei, the capital and one of four states that make up the Federated States of Micronesia. The Habitat team plans to establish "Save and Build" and "Save and Repair" housing programmes in the near future.
