Habitat for Humanity programme

Habitat for Humanity Panama was established in 2003, with work beginning officially in 2004. Now Habitat Panama has grown to support the development of two communities. Habitat Panama has built 36 houses so far.

The aim is to respond to the needs of families with limited resources. The majority of the families served earn a subsistence wage and do not have access to the traditional credit system of their local bank.

The houses measure 42 m². The mortgage loan is granted for a 12- to 17-year term and the average monthly instalments are £26. The total cost of a house is between £4,000 and £4,600.
