COVID-19 Relief in Cambdodia:

How our WASH programmes are helping vulnerable communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the course of the pandemic, Cambodia has suffered with around 79,000 coronavirus cases. This number is continuing to climb as the number of new cases and deaths is on a rise. In order to slow the spread of Coronavirus, proper sanitation facilities and clean water are of the utmost importance. However, many families in Cambodia lack access to proper sanitation facilities and clean water.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project

In response, our team at Habitat for Humanity is continuing their work with the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene project (WASH). The project gives communities access to safe drinking water and handwashing and sanitation facilities in schools. These new facilities have already served almost 20,000 individuals, and will continue to support even more in the future.

Protection kits:

Through the Grace project we have also provided 10,000 masks, hand sanitizers and educational materials to families living in rural areas. In addition, we have administered PPE Coronavirus protection kits to thousands of Cambodian families. The provisions of these materials as well as the access to proper sanitation facilities is crucial in protecting families against the spread of Coronavirus, as many could not afford them on their own due to restrictions on work.

Education:

To further reinforce the importance of hygiene, we have also held demonstrations and lessons for the community to educate vulnerable communities on hygiene and disaster preparedness. Habitat for Humanity will continue to serve communities in need, ensuring adequate access to basic necessities.
