Habitat for Humanity Germany began operations in 1998. The national office is based in Cologne, with nine staff members and five people on the board of directors.

Our team in Germany is primarily focused on raising funds for the international work of Habitat for Humanity as well as for our large volunteering programme.

How We Work In Germany

Habitat for Humanity Germany works through building corporate relations with leading businesses, sending volunteers on international building trips through the Global Village programme, and lobbying to find supporters, sponsors and volunteers for worldwide programs. Habitat Germany has also established relationships with institutions and foundations.

Partnerships And Impact

Our German office is a member of the U.N.-affiliated Global Compact Network in Germany that brings together industry and nonprofits. It is also actively raising funds for emergency relief work for the 2015 Nepal earthquake and is member of Aktion Deutschland Hilft, Germany’s number one Relief Coalition.

More About Our Work

Habitat for Humanity Germany raised funds to support building projects in Ethiopia, Cote d’ Ivoire, Haiti, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Argentina, India, Chile, Malawi, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Zambia.

In Europe and Central Asia, it has financed a whole variety of projects including:

  • Building of homes for disadvantaged families in Portugal, Romania and Poland
  • Alternative water supply in Kyrgyzstan
  • Making homes safer for earthquakes in Tajikistan.
