Habitat for Humanity Great Britain is part of the global Habitat for Humanity Federation.

Here we work with Habitat for Humanity offices, and other partners around the world, focusing on five areas of work:

  1. Urban/ slum work such as the Urban Crises Learning Project
  2. Finance – including microfinance and training for employment
  3. Disaster response and resilience
  4. Projects in Africa, including training, finance, and housing value chain

Henrietta joined Habitat for Humanity Great Britain in August 2023 as the new National Director.

Victoria Bakulumpagi

Director of Finance and Compliance

Victoria is responsible for strategic finance and operational support. She directs and manages the charity’s financial activities ensuring that operations are aligned with financial systems and policies, collectively providing effective support to the organization as it grows.
Prior to Habitat, Victoria served as the Global Finance Manager for the Humanitarian Leadership Academy at Save the Children UK.

Tessa Kelly

Director of Development

I ensure that we make the most of our relationships with our donors, partners, volunteers and followers to deliver the best impact for the communities we support. My day to day job is never the same, some days I work with our incredible corporate partners to support impactful programmes in Malawi, Cambodia, Ethiopia, India, Poland and the UK, other days I work with the team to deliver inspiring stories encouraging our supporters to get more deeply involved in our work. I manage an incredible team of fundraisers and storytellers and look forward to learning something new from our work around the world every day.

Akira Akazawa

Head of Impact

Akira's role is to increase the effectiveness and funding of our programmes by working with institutional donors, foundations, and trusts. He writes proposals for new projects and manages grants and budgets to ensure that all of the anticipated projects will run smoothly for Habitat for Humanity Great Britain.

Individual Giving Manager

The Individual Giving Manager oversees fundraising from our individual supporters – covering everything from our communications plan, appeal and newsletter production, and looking after our gifts in Wills programme. A key part of our individual giving programme is being able to share inspiring stories from our work around the world with our incredible donors to keep them up-to-date with how their support is changing the lives of families in housing poverty.

Database and Income Processing Officer

My role is to look after the database to ensure that all of our records are up to date and accurate. I also support the finance team to process any income that we receive from appeals and fundraising activities. I run reports on Raisers Edge for different departments when required and also provide step by step training on how to generate reports for their certain departments.

My role is to ensure the smooth running of financial systems at Habitat for Humanity Great Britain. I am responsible for timely and accurate processing of all transactions and work with all of our teams to make sure that the utilisation of funds is in line with the agreements made, and that we have all the supporting documents required for audits.

Corporate Partnerships Manager

I am the day to day contact for our Corporate partners. I’m on hand to help with any queries that that they may have, suggest fundraising ideas and ensure they are updated with the progress of projects that they are supporting. Taking part in overseas house building trips has allowed me to see the impact of our work first hand. These experiences fuel my enthusiasm when talking to partners and helping them to achieve their targets. In my free time, I love to bake cakes, brownies, cupcakes, and anything else that is sweet, and I enjoy being active and outdoors.

Jemma Chambers

Head of Philanthropy, Trusts, and Foundations

My role means I get to work closely with individual donors and grant making trusts who share Habitat for Humanity’s vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent home, and want to make an investment in making that happen. I have a background in fundraising for a range of organisations and causes, including social welfare issues in the UK and international development. I enjoy meeting, and talking to people, and building long last relationships to support the growth of our work.

In my role I work closely with our amazing Corporate Partners to raise funds and awareness for our programmes both in the UK and globally. I am passionate about joining forces with partners who share our goals and values, as together we can achieve far greater impact than by working on our own. I enjoy working closely with businesses, building partnerships which have a transformational impact on the lives of our beneficiaries and create meaningful opportunities to engage employees in Habitat for Humanity’s work.

Office Manager/EA to National Director

Swati supports the CEO, finance team, and HR functions at Habitat for Humanity Great Britain. Attending meetings to record accurate minutes and assisting CEO in updating his calendar and scheduling Board and Finance meetings. Looking after payroll, staff expenses, new employee onboarding, and updating staff annual leaves are just some of the many other tasks Swati does day-to-day.

Trusts and Foundations Manager

I work closely with grant making trust and foundations, securing funding for our various projects here in the UK and around the world. I also coordinate our Empty Spaces to Homes Programme, where we turn vacant and empty business/commercial spaces into affordable and decent homes for vulnerable people. I really enjoy working closely with people and building partnerships to implement our vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent home.

Global Volunteering and Engagement Coordinator

I am excited to be able to work with all of Habitat’s amazing volunteers. In my role, I work with Volunteer Coordinators in Habitat offices around the world to coordinate amazing overseas volunteering opportunities for UK based partners. I also get the opportunity to work with volunteers on a local level at our Upcycling Workshop in London where participants help fight furniture poverty and learn more about our Empty Spaces to Homes program.

Digital Engagement Coordinator
In my incredibly diverse role, I am responsible for curating the digital content for our GB team, which includes a wide range of creative tasks such as designing marketing collateral, video editing, and managing our social media accounts. Additionally, I take the lead in maintaining our website content, ensuring that our branding and digital literacy are of the highest standard. I operate in a cross-functional capacity, keeping our supporters engaged and our charity in the spotlight.

Nadege is a former editor with over 20 years’ experience in print and online news media outlets. Nadege started her career as journalist in France, working for numerous newspapers and magazines and she came to London in 2009 to start her own start-up venture. She managed Ici Londres, the online and print magazine for the French in London, releasing 35 000 copies monthly. In 2021, she joined Montieth & Co in EMEA, and she successfully led the communication effort of a diverse portfolio of clients in the French media market.

Andrew holds expertise in financial and professional services corporate communications and leads efforts across a number of UK and EMEA accounts for Montieth & Company. Andrew has led flagship accounts and worked with some of the leading lights of the communications industry. With experience spanning the UK, the Middle East and APAC, he has worked with asset managers, investors and stock exchanges. Andrew has also advised an Embassy on stakeholder engagement, messaging and media relations.

Cameron Penny is a multi-disciplinary communications specialist who has worked across a variety of industries and in both the private and public sectors. He heads Montieth & Company’s operations in EMEA. Over the past decade, Cameron has specialized in advising financial services firms in retail and wholesale markets in addition to UK regulators. Cameron has provided a range of support to clients throughout his career including strategic communications counsel, C-suite advisory and thought leadership program commissioning.

Andreia consults clients across several industries, including technology, renewable energy, financial services and non-profit. She advises on corporate communications, strategic media relations and financial communications to further clients’ media visibility, brand recognition, industry positioning, and stakeholder relations. Andreia has achieved numerous media placements across EMEA and Latin America. She leverages her background knowledge in stakeholder engagement and international politics, as well as international work experience, in her work on cross-border accounts. Andreia has worked in a global non-governmental organisation, where she was involved in stakeholder engagement, content creation, event coordination, and issues-driven campaigns in partnership with businesses, non-profits and intergovernmental organisations.
Andreia has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and earned her Master’s in Public Policy from King’s College London. Andreia speaks fluent Portuguese and has advanced knowledge of Spanish.

I am an experienced chartered architect with close to 25 years design and project management experience in private, commercial, and voluntary sectors. I’ve worked at detailed and strategic levels on a wide range of development projects and find the catalytic power of these projects and enabling roles very rewarding. My main aim is to use my gifts and abilities to help others in society to access better living conditions and community resources. It is a privilege to lead the GB Homes team, and I am passionate about family, faith, and the power of community.

Arthur began his journey in 2007 by volunteering on the Star of India project assisting our Construction Manager at that time. He is now Site Coordinator and carries out a crucial facilitation role along with estimations, budget planning and working directly with contractors and volunteers on site. Arthur obtains materials for projects and deals with various aspects of Health & Safety for construction phases by working alongside our Corporate Relations Manager to oversee all aspects of volunteering. He is also an avid Chelsea supporter and owns a full set of Chelsea F.C. mugs which no-one else dares to use!

Kaia joined the team at the start of 2015 in a Volunteer Coordinator & Administration assistant role. She then transitioned into the corporate Relations Manager for the GB Homes team for 8 years, manging local corporate partners and volunteers whilst liaising closely with the wider UK and International Fundraising team. As of January 2024, Kaia started a new role as Resources Manager and EA to the CEO. This exciting new role enables Kaia to still engage with fundraising team, provide executive assistant support to the CEO, and support with the GB Homes HR functions and efficient management of administration and the office.

I volunteered on our Gordon Road project nearly 20 years ago, and once Gordon Road was completed I became a subcontractor and volunteer. This developed into a full-time role in 2017, and I now supervise our corporate and community volunteer teams, students, contractors and subcontractors. I am also involved in health and safety and setting up our sites where required. My primary aim is to make sure that all who visit our sites and projects have a safe and fun day.

Chris Neale

Chris, or ‘CJ’, is a freelance bookkeeper and a professional singer. For a decade of his life, he spent time singing with the world-renowned Swingle Singers. Since 2015, he has been bookkeeping for Habitat for Humanity and developing his management accountancy skills under the experienced eye of our Treasurer. Chris fulfils a vital support role for the whole team. Alongside his work, he is currently studying Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine and has an interest in crypto currencies. He also is known to enjoy a nice glass of red wine!

Giles is an experienced Architectural Consultant who has been involved in the delivery of complex projects within agreed budget and time constraints. He has experience leading design teams in the planning and design of buildings and is an adaptable, effective communicator. Giles is an innovative professional who seeks to get to the core of issues and promote viable solutions to achieve good outcomes for clients and partners. Giles has been instrumental in developing processes around tender and construction stages of our projects.

Project Architect

My role is to support the design and delivery of our social housing projects and on-going empty property refurbishment programmes as well as project management on our community projects. My experience includes designing higher education, laboratory and residential and office buildings. I enjoy working with existing buildings and exploring how they can be re-used functionally and sustainably. I'm passionate about using good design to improve people's lives, sustainability of buildings, and furthering opportunities of young people in the construction profession through hands-on workshops with teenagers and university students.
