Update from Malawi – July 2015
Visiting the families
Albright Dene’s Managing Director, Joe McDermott, recently visited the two communities in Malawi where their funds are being used to construct 22 Habitat for Humanity homes.
Joe was delighted to meet the families who will benefit from these new homes and he could see first-hand how the support the company is providing is merely the tip of the iceberg in terms of meeting the long-term needs of these orphans and vulnerable children.
The well-built new homes will certainly improve their living conditions and reduce their vulnerability, but what the communities also need is a long-term strategy for becoming self-sufficient and developing the skills to allow them to thrive. His experience in Malawi has inspired Joe to research and investigate additional ways to help the families help themselves, so that the wide and welcoming smiles he encountered during his time there can live on long into the future.
Our partnership with Albright Dene
We are delighted to announce our new partnership with planning experts, Albright Dene, who will support the construction of a minimum of 22 homes in Malawi.
Albright Dene offer unique and innovative planning solutions to help homeowners and investors develop their properties and they are thrilled tobe working with us on this project.
The support will go to two communities in Salima and Mulanje to build new homes for orphans and vulnerable children, an initiative which will dramatically improve their living conditions and reduce their vulnerability. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, so Albright Dene’s fantastic support is especially appreciated and needed by these 110 children and their caregivers.
Albright Dene share our vision for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live and the whole team are passionate about working with us to help eliminate housing poverty and homelessness. Good quality housing is something every society is always in need of and the process of funding and delivering new homes fulfils not only Albright Dene’s pledge to make a difference, but also the wider needs of growing communities.
We are thrilled that Managing Director, Joe McDermott, will visit Malawi in May, to see the construction of the first three houses! Joe is looking forward to meeting some of the families who will benefit from Albright Dene’s support and establishing the beginnings of a long and successful relationship with the two communities in Salima and Mulanje.
Albright Dene have pledged to fund one new Habitat for Humanity home for every three new dwellings they obtain planning consent for here in the UK and as the company continues to grow and prosper they look forward to seeing many additional families benefit from their support.
