Pai Tun and Nhoung Oeuy, who both use wheelchairs, live in rural Siem Reap, Cambodia, in a home that once made everyday life a constant struggle. Narrow doorways, no ramps, and a lack of basic facilities meant even simple tasks were difficult, and their house offered little safety or dignity for their young daughter.
With support from Habitat for Humanity, they worked alongside the team to transform their home into a space designed around their needs.
Today, wider doorways, ramps, and a secure, lockable front door have brought safety and independence, and even enabled them to open a small shop to support their family.

In Addis Ababa, where around 70% of the city is made up of informal settlements, families like Yidenku’s have long lived in overcrowded, unsafe conditions without access to basic services.
