Margaret, a resilient grandmother, has spent much of her life worrying about how to keep her family safe. Not long ago, she lived in a small, fragile house with her five young grandchildren.

Whenever the rainy season came, Margaret’s home would leak, leaving them vulnerable to the elements and exposing her family to the cold and damp. Margaret remembers the fear that used to keep her awake at night, worrying about potential break-ins.

The flimsy doors did little to protect her family, and each night, she’d lie awake, hoping and praying they would make it safely to morning.

But today, thanks to Habitat for Humanity, Margaret’s story is one of transformation.

Her new home is a solid, secure place where her family can finally feel safe. The lockable door keeps them secure, the sturdy walls keep out the rain, and the nearby water point gives the family a source of essential clean water.

Margaret’s heart is finally at ease, knowing her grandchildren can grow up in a place where they’re protected and free to dream. For Margaret, this home means the world.
