Our Houses to Homes Programme
Habitat for Humanity have launched a new Houses to Homes (H2H) Programme in GB, designed to support people who have moved from temporary accommodation into permanent housing but are struggling to make their property feel safe, stable, and liveable. Using ReStore as a base, the H2H programme supports tenancy sustainment, reduces furniture poverty, and helps individuals build a stable foundation in their new homes.
What we do
Only 2% of social housing comes furnished. Our Houses to Homes Programme supports vulnerable individuals and families who have experienced housing instability by helping them transform their house into a home.
Through redecoration, light-touch repairs, and affordable furniture, we help individuals take pride in their homes, gain practical maintenance skills, and give them a sense of ownership in their accommodation.
With vital support from our local partners and dedicated volunteers, Houses to Homes is helping to deliver much needed services across Havering.
Refer someone
If you’re an organisation that supports vulnerable people and know someone who would benefit from this service, please get in touch with Julie, Houses to Homes Supervisor, to find out more (jbeech@habitatforhumanity.org.uk, Tuesday – Thursday).
We can provide furniture, essential home items and decorating such as light repairs and painting.
We only accept referrals from organisations.
Volunteer with us
Volunteers are crucial to delivering the H2H programme. If you’d like to volunteer with us, please fill out the online form below.
You’ll help with painting, light-touch repairs, and getting the homes ready for families to move in, all whilst being trained and supported by a dedicated Supervisor. Each volunteer will typically spend about 2 days with us on site and can take part in as many projects as they’d like to.
