A wall of ice, mud and rock swept down the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors, devastating Timure, Rasuwagadhi, Syafrubesi and communities across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts. The flood has caused widespread destruction around the north and northwest of Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city.
Homes, roads, bridges and hydropower facilities have been destroyed or severely damaged. Many affected families have lost their homes, clothing and essential household items. Families have had no option but to watch their homes get washed away, and search desperately for missing loved ones. It’s estimated that 10,000 families need emergency shelter assistance.
Habitat for Humanity Nepal is closely assessing the situation and working with partners and government authorities to identify the most urgent needs.

We’re so thankful that our Habitat colleagues in Nepal are safe, and currently on the ground working to ensure other families have safe shelter.
Habitat for Humanity activated the Humanitarian Response Team (HRT) within 24 hours of the disaster and sent the first shipment of Emergency Shelter Kits on 30 August 2026.
Our teams are assessing exactly what’s needed, coordinating closely with other humanitarian organisations and government agencies to plan the emergency response. By working alongside national and local responders, we’re making sure help reaches people faster, without duplication or delay.
Your generosity helps ensure Habitat can be there, responding to urgent needs and supporting communities through the long road to recovery, wherever they are in the world.
We support families with rebuilding their lives after disaster.
