The Empty Spaces to Homes (ES2H) coalition, sponsored by M&G, brings together individuals and organisations with a shared commitment to making better use of empty buildings for social and affordable housing. With over 175,000 non-residential buildings currently sitting empty, we aim to demonstrate how repurposing these buildings can be part of the solution to the housing crisis.
We share best practice and learning about converting empty buildings, looking at topics such as funding, partnerships, engaging with Local Authorities, research and needs of local communities. Together we:
- Influence housing policy to make it easier to convert vacant non-residential buildings into high quality, social and genuinely affordable housing
- Deliver and scale ES2H projects across GB by sharing insight, lessons learned and raising awareness of the model
- Develop best practice tools and resources that support partners to pursue ES2H projects in their area
