My daughter’s room has become very beautiful. Their favourite colour has become very popular. I always wanted to do the best for my daughters, but I couldn’t do it alone. It’s great that there are people here who don’t let me feel lonely and help me create good conditions for my daughters.
Roxana’s New Home
Our new House to Home GB programme is gaining momentum. We are now carrying out weekly site assessments alongside local support workers and delivering impactful renovations in the homes of those who are most in need.
Roxana’s Story
Roxana is aged 29. Her husband was killed, and she fled war torn Afghanistan pregnant with her 5 year old daughter. After eventually getting housed in the UK four years ago, she now lives in Romford with her two daughters aged 4 and 9. She is determined to make her families life better here.
A New Home
Over the course of 2 days, Roxana learnt how to paint and decorate. Alongside three volunteers, she helped the House to Home supervisor to transform her children’s bedroom from a drab unhappy space into a beautiful haven for them to sleep.
“When the lovely ones who came to my house to paint, I was very happy and felt very good. And being able to be with them and treat me like a close friend changed my self-confidence and my mood a lot. I feel very good, both myself and my daughters. When I see my daughters happy, I get a lot of energy. Living in England is like being free from a terrible world like a prison. I am very happy to live in this country and that they take care of me so that I can have a good and happy life. I thank you for the good energy you gave to my home.”
