Volunteer Abroad
- Charity Work in Asia, Africa & Europe -

Welcome to Global Village, our short term, international volunteering programme. Our opportunities to volunteer abroad are nothing short of life-changing trips. Whether you're looking for intense DIY trips or charity work abroad that will help break the cycle of poverty - you've come to the right place.

Each volunteer trip raises enough funds to build 2 Habitat homes for vulnerable families

It is important to note that these building projects are not dependent on volunteers, nor created for the sole purpose of "entertaining" them (e.g. voluntourism).

Every day around the world local builders are working on our projects, creating local jobs, and boosting the economy. Volunteers bring a crucial boost to the productivity and a valuable reminder that compassionate people want to help these families and communities to thrive.

Our charity work abroad

No construction experience needed

We welcome volunteers of all skill levels on our international house building projects. We are happy to train up volunteers who are inexperienced in house building. Each team of volunteers will learn a style of building that is specific to that location – whether it’s laying bricks in Malawi, digging foundations in Cambodia, or woodframe houses in Romania.

Where we build

  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • Latin America

Do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you'd like to arrange a volunteer trip in a country that isn't on the map of previous builds.

Types of volunteer trips

Each overseas Build lasts 1 to 2 weeks. You will spend most days working on the construction site, with opportunities to do some sightseeing and experience the local culture.

We organise 2 types of Build:

  • Open builds, open for everyone to sign up
  • Closed builds, for corporates and larger groups who want to enjoy the experience amongst themselves. Find out more about corporate volunteering.

Types of building projects

The core mission of our charity work abroad is to build decent, affordable homes for families in need. However, this doesn’t always mean that we build new homes from the ground up. Our projects are designed to respond to local needs first and foremost (e.g. hygiene and sanitation, education, etc).

  • Build Louder: Build and advocate to advance affordable housing.
  • Critical home improvement: Improve existing shelters.
  • Disaster recovery: Build back stronger after a disaster and learn about our work to reduce risks.
  • Green building: Help build energy-efficient homes.
  • Home construction: Help build new homes.
  • Vulnerable populations: Bring stability and opportunity to orphans, vulnerable children and other people experiencing extreme difficulties.
  • Women Build: Build homes as part of an all-female team.
